Discography

Beautiful Afterburn - CD (Coal Music) 2001

COAL's third full length CD released on Coal Music label, produced by Marc L'Esperance, available through Scratch Distribution.
Sexy, soulful and lush music with heartfelt, enticing vocals.Standout track is the catchiest Coal song to date, 'Thrill Me".-The Courier-
"Torch songs with real fire-there's nothing quite like it." -Thrust Quarterly-

One Track Mind-enhanced CD
(Coal Music/Factor)1998

COAL's second full length CD released on Coal Music label, produced by Marc L'Esperance, available on Amazon.com.and CdStreet.

Incandescent, spooky, sexy music with big drifting songs that generally avoid easy hooks, instead building atmosphere out of rich, twangy guitars and hauntingly low cool-sweet vocals.

Nightlines-cassette (Coal Music) 1997

5 song "LIVE" cassette originally broadcast on CBC radio program "Nightlines",
now defunct but replaced with weekend program Radiosonic on CBC Radio2
with host Grant Lawrence and David Wisdom's show RadioOn.
TRACKS: Harlem Nocturne, Black As Coal, El Gato, Sabotage, & Primitive.

The Mint is Still a Terrible Thing to Taste-
CDep V/A (Mint Records) 1993.

Released in 1994, on Vancouver label Mint Records, this Cdep includes the bands cub, COAL, Tankhog and Windwalker and their renditions of heavy rock songs by Motorhead and Ministry. COAL's torchy cover of "Ace of Spades" garnered them media attention across the country. At The Great Canadian Party at UBC Thunderbird Stadium, the Georgia Straight review said:

"....Following cub was COAL, which might be described as the slowest, jazziest death-metal band imaginable. COAL would be the house band in hell's version of New Orleans, Angelo Badalementi conducting. The quintet concluded it's set with a haunting, inexplicably pretty version of Motorhead's "Ace of Spades." The video for the track (directed by Marcus Rogers of COAL) was placed into medium rotation on MuchMusic for several weeks and continues to get play every now and again.

COAL - CD and cassette
(Zulu Records) 1992.

Smoky, sultry and eerie all at once....cool and atmospheric as hell.Music that has an incredible gothic texture that brings it to the realm of ambient blues.

REVIEWS:"Morphine cool, sorrowful country laments...3AM atmospherics...a character to call its own"-Globe and Mail-
"COAL is cool, no doubt about it.This Cd takes you deep into the darkness but never let's go of your hand."-Nite Moves-
"Definitely mood music that shines like onyx in the autumn moonlight." -Chart Magazine-
